English Jones at Statfold Barn
English Jones have been added to the line-up of this year's Statfold Barn Festival 14th - 16th August 2020. The festival set in the Staffordshire countryside just outside Tamworth will host many acts over the weekend including Scouting for Girls.
English Jones are looking forward to playing the festival and will perform on Friday 14th August at 3.45pm on the Roundhouse Acoustic stage.

EJ return to Bar Stool Sessions
English Jones will play live at the Bar Stool Sessions on Friday 20th March 2020.
The sessions held at the Hollywood social club in Erdington, have become a renowned showcase for bands and solo artists. EJ are looking forward to returning to the venue following their crowd pleasing set in 2019.

Weather Stops Play
EJ’s performance at this year’s Statfold Barn Festival had to be cancelled due to heavy rain and a waterlogged stage. English Jones were due to perform alongside headliners Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Tony Christie and Toploader. The band were bitterly disappointed, but understand the need for safety at outdoor events. The band are hopeful of a return to the festival next year.
EJ enjoying theirHome Comforts
English Jones have completed work on their brand new LP. The CD due for release this summer will be called Home Comforts and will feature 11 new songs including the live favourites Last time at your house and Hiding in the Heart. This is the bands 1st new material since 2010’s Out of the Darkness LP. A release date is yet to be confirmed but the band hope to have the CD available at live shows this summer.

EJ Return for a double date in Stratford up Avon English Jones will play at two venues in Stratford up Avon on the same day, Sunday 22nd April. First up the band will be at the Stratford Alehouse where they will be performing two sets at the music loving micro brewery from 5pm and then later that evening you can catch EJ at the Picture House Cinema in Windsor Street at the Acoustheque evening, music from 9pm.
English Jones and Every Thread recording at Studio 2
English Jones started work in January on new material at their studio / rehearsal space Studio 2. So far the sessions have produced 5 new songs. With more writing and recording due, the band hope to release new music later this year.
The studio is also playing host to the brilliant Birmingham duo Every Thread, who are recording songs for their forthcoming LP at the studio with Stewart from English Jones on recording and production duties.

English Jones are saddened to hear of the passing of singer songwriter and poet
Paul Murphy from cancer.
Paul, always a passionate supporter of original music, gave us our first chance to play live at the iconic Songwriter Café back in 1998. Over the years Paul has continued to support and encourage the band and it’s always been a privilege to play at the Songwriters Café.
Paul Murphy, a great poet and performer who always inspired us to be original, will be sadly missed.

The Return of former EJ Guitarist
Former English Jones guitarist Andy Davis returns to the band and will play his first gig in 10 years with EJ at the Old Moseley Arms on Sunday 28th June.
Andy who played guitar with English Jones from 2002 – 2005, performing on the Words LP and playing the now legendary New York dates in 2004.
Stewart said “Andy had been in contact with the band over recent years through social media and we thought it would be nice to get together and have a jam. These sessions turned out great and we all had such a good time that next logical step was to play live together again. It’s great to have a fine guitarist and old friend back in the band”.

20.08.12 Andy Leaves English Jones Andy Wheeler’s 7 year residency on the English Jones drum stool came to an end last week. Andy and the band decided to split amicably, with Andy going on to pursue other projects and the band continuing as a three piece.

30.03.08 CD Release Party
English Jones released their eagerly anticipated new CD Minor Chord Major City on Saturday 15th March 2008 with a Launch Party at Neon Sound Studios. 70 invited guests packed into the small venue to hear the band perform all the songs from the new CD. The 10 tracks include Only a matter of time, Gramercy Park, Minor Chord Major City, In the wires, The Distance, Singing songs of love, A Place, Restless Heart, Empty beds and The wish list. During Restless Heart the band were joined on stage by special guest Louise Gatfield, who performed a wonderful crowd pleasing Trumpet solo.
The evening was split into two halves with the band taking a break to sign CD’s and enjoy celebratory refreshments with the guests. Returning to the stage to rapturous applause for more English Jones favourites and inspired covers. The band would like to thank all those who came and helped make the evening a Fantastic success.
Minor Chord Major City will be available to purchase at all English Jones gigs.
